Hi-
I've been wrestling with this problem for a few weeks and after many tries
and reformatted hard-drives and fresh installs of windows, I'm no closer to
solving it:
There are certain .avi files in my "My Videos" folder that cause WMM to hang
when I try to import them. However, I can drag and drop the files into the
collections/story-boards with no problem. Even stranger, it seems that if I
move the offending files to the desktop I can import them fine. Most of the
files in "My Videos" import perfectly.
This problem occurs with WMM, Adobe Premiere, and Sony Vega trial version.
On a different machine on my network I can import the files from the same
"my Videos" location without the hanging issue.
I have reformatted the hard drive multiple time, reinstalled fresh copies of
windows, reviewed the crash/hang page on papajohn.org and spent many hours on
the phone with (Adobe's) tech support, all to no avail.
I should note that I first noticed the problem after installing a new
hard-drive and reimporting all of "My Documents" to the new drive.
Everything else seems to be fine with the machine.
I've been pulling my hair out over this one. Does anyone have any ideas what
could be causing this behavior (the hanging, not the hair-pulling)?
Thanks in advance.
Spencer
