Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of WMIDiag from the MS download site. When I
run it, wait several minutes, then look at the resulting
WMIDIAG-V2.0_XP___.CLI.RTM.32_MY-PC_2009.02.06_14.23.48-REPORT.TXT report, it
doesn't look like WMIDiag is compatable with XP's SP3.
There are lines like:
** Windows XP - No service pack - 32-bit (2600)
Yet SP3 is certainly installed.
and
** Windows Firewall: ...................... NOT INSTALLED.
Yet the firewall is up and running just fine.
and
** DCOM security for 'Microsoft WBEM UnSecured Apartment' (Launch &
Activation Permissions): ........................... MODIFIED.
24841 14:32:19 (1) !! ERROR: Default trustee 'BUILTIN\ADMINISTRATORS' has
been REMOVED!
yet there are no problems with the Administrator acccount (there are many of
these kind of errors for different default user accounts).
Also, if you take a look at http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm and
read the "Comprehensive rebuild method" at the bottom of the page, and try to
run " rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection WBEM 132
%windir%\inf\wbemoc.inf " , you can point it to SP3 files on CDs,
directories, extracted SP3 files, and it just flat out reject the files.
I look forward to your thoughts and comments.
Regards,
