I am trying to sync up my Cingular 8525 with my PC (running Vista). The
moment I plug the USB cable into the phone the PC asks for the password, I
type it in and WMDC tries to connect and then says: Error!

I deinstalled WMDC and reinstalled it but have no luck. Can anyone help? I
was on the phone with the Microsoft helpdesk for 4 hours and they can not
figure it out. I think it has something to do with the drivers...but where do
I find the right driver and what is the name?

Thank you.

I have been going through this for the last three weeks. I have been talking
to tech support with not much luck, but they suggested I try to connect on
another PC.

I was able to synch my 8525 on the other PC.

Looking at differences, I noted that on the successful PC the Device manager
entries were different.

Under Portable Devices the 8525 was listed as a 'windows mobile device' This
was wrong.

The second PC (where things worked) had the 8525 listed as a Pocket PC.

By uninstalling the Windows Mobile Device and reenumerating Windows
correctly identified the device as a "Pocket PC" and things are working.

By the way the 8525 enumerates as two devices...

Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter under Network Adapters
and
Pocket PC under "portable devices".

I hope this works.

Billy, thank you for the information. I decided to do a hard re-boot of my
cell phone and the moment I plugged to USB cable into the computer the device
manager would sync properly. The Microsoft helpdesk said that I had corrupted
data on my device which can cause trouble with syncing.

Thanks again for your help.
