WMA files generated by WMM 5.1 under XP vs WMM 6.0 under Vista

I'm successfully using WMM (5.1 under XP) to edit a .wma file ripped
from the AC-3 track of a concert DVD. I use it to carve out a single
song, add fade in and fade out, then save the result to my hard drive
also as a .wma file. I copy this resulting file to one of the folders
monitored by my Zune Music collection software, edit some of the tags
to my liking and presto – it syncs to the Zune device and is a
available for listening whenever and wherever I like which of course
was the original intent.

BUT…… even though I follow the exact same procedure using MMW 6.0 as
furnished under Vista, although the resulting .wma plays ok in WMP, it
apparently is NOT RECOGNIZED as a valid .wma file and is not
recognized by the Zune music collection softrware and therefore not
added to the Zune music collection. There apparently IS something
funny about it because although WMP will play it, this file cannot be
added to the WMP library.

So….. in a nutshell, a .wma file made by WMM 5.1 under XP works fine
in the Zune and WMP software, but a .wma file made by WMM 6.0 under
Vista does not.

I have repeated the steps four times and always observed this same
result.

Can anyone point me at what might be the cause of the problem? Anyone
else having trouble using .wma files generated by WMM 6.0?

I'd prefer to use 6.0 because the interface is nicer/smoother.

Thanks!

Thanks John. Tried it and it works fine to extract audio from the vob
file. But I still need something to then extract just a short, one-
song segment from the resulting .mp3 or .wma file. That's what I used
WMM for and where I had the trouble with ver 6.0.

The extractor will do that also...just click the
Movie Clip button and drag the sliders to
highlight the portion you want to keep...then
click the OK button.

Then click the Start button.

John - you're right! Sorry that I missed that.
