Hello all:

In an effort to free up space in C: I am moving programs to F:. WM
Player has resisted all my efforts to move it. It resides in
C:\Program Files\. I tried the following:

1) I copied it to F:\. & verified that it functioned there including
starting from the desktop icon, from Windows Explorer & opening
attachments in received emails. I then deleted all but seven files
from the C: location. These files have resisted all my attempts to get
rid of them. The program still functions OK.

2) I deleted it from F:, downloaded the latest version from Microsoft
with the intention of installing it on F:. No such luck. There are no
options, it goes to C:\Program Files, the same as before.

Any ideas?

OS Version? WMP Version?

Uninstall WMP using control panel. Restart. Clean registry of any left
over values as well as and any leftover folders and files.

Install WMP. There should be a location to select the installation of
the program. You probably had no choice before because the installer saw
the old version on the hard drive and in the registry.

OS is Xp. WMP Version is 9.00.00.3128. WMP does not appear in the
Control Panel/Add/Delete. And I repeat, when installing WMP there is
no option as to install location. Sorry, I have never tinkered with
the registry, I'm just not that brave.

Thank you Wayne for your help. Here is the scoop on what has turned
out to be a rather frustrating and in the end an impossible task.

The information in the link that you provided for complete removal of
WMP did the job. Installing WMP after complete removal still offers no
choice as to where to install it. It has to be C:\Program Files\.
Copying the files from c: to f: and then uninstalling WMP does remove
the program from c: but it won't run from f:...something about the
program not being installed properly comes up on the screen.

Thanks again for your help.
