I don't think it is just Dell. I have had 3 Dell computers and
never had any such problems with any of mine.
|> Cari: thank you so much. that did the trick!!!
|
| It worked for me too. Thank you very much.
|
| However something is wrong when you buy two separate Dell
computers and
| neither will play a DVD video!! The most expensive of these is a
Dell XPS
| 700 costing £2000. Not only was there no sound, it refused to play
the DVD at
| all, citing something about 'Digital Rights'.
|
| The AC3 filter cured both problems perfectly however the one from
Software
| Forge did not work - it appeared to be only a fragment. The one
that worked
| was from
|
www.afterdawn.com.
|
| But why should have I have to do this at all? After spending
£2,000 it
| seems reasonable that at least the DVD player should work. This
is only one
| of a host of problems - another major one is the inability to
record audio
| off the Internet (which I can do with any non-Dell computer).
Dell has a lot
| to answer for. I shall not be buying another Dell computer.
