When starting up my laptop with D-Link DWL-650+ NIC card
installed, using a User or Power User account, the WLANMON
error message occurs and the NIC card is not recognized in
the PCMCIA slot. When starting up in Administrator, all
works fine.

How do I set the security to allow the use of the D-Link
NIC card under a User or Power User group?

Michael, did you ever sort out how to get past this problem? I hav
three W2K machines in the house and am unable to figure out how to le
the users access the NIC without giving them Administrator privileges
Anything less results in no NIC and a "WLANMON" error box bein
presented after W2K loads.

Try giving the users group modify ntfs permissions to the Dlink Airplus folder
in the program files folder. Logon as an administrator, right click the folder
and select properties/security and give users read/list/execute/modify which
should be same as the power users group shows. Just check the extra boxes for
allow and then apply. If that does not help, registry permissions may be the
problem. --- Steve
