My computer was infected with Downloader.MSCache, a Trojan
Horse virus. I followed the directions to eliminate the
virus, which included unregistering a file in Windows
named zlhnkbgk.dll. Afterwards, I deleted this file, which
may have ben a mistake. Upon re-starting my computer I get
2 error messages that are called "WJView Error". The error
message says something like "Could not execute the main -
file could not be found". Not sure if this is connected,
but the result since I got rid of the virus is that the
internet performance is excruciatingly slow, takes > 5
minutes just to open my web browser, and the same to
open "My Computer". Outlook and other applications work
just fine. Any ideas?

Hello Ken,

The first thing to do is boot your system without 3rd party services and
processes running. Please use the following troubleshooting method to
narrow down where the problem is coming from -

First, boot into Safe Mode and make sure My Computer opens at normal
speeds. If it does, then do the following tests and boot back into Normal
mode when it says reboot. If it still has problems then you are looking at
either file corruption or registry corruption. At that point, we need to
use Filemon and Regmon from www.sysinternals.com to narrow down the problem.

A) Go to Start\Run and type
MSCONFIG <OK>
B) In MSConfig, choose "Selective Startup"
C) Remove all check boxes and click "OK" and "Yes" to reboot.
Then test our issue.
D) If you don’t see the problem at this point, check all except "System
Services" and "Startup Items", click "OK" and "Yes".
Reboot then test our issue.
E) If you don’t see the problem at this point, check all except "System
Services", click "OK" and "Yes".
Reboot and then test our issue.
F) If the problem returns, it is due to a Startup Item. If not, it is a
Service.

For Services:
G) Click the Services tab and check the box for “Hide all Microsoft
Services.”
H) Enable SOME of the disabled items, click "OK" and "Yes".
Reboot, then test our issue.

For Startup Items:
I) Click the Startup tab and enable SOME of the disabled items, click "OK"
and "Yes".
Reboot, then test our issue.

J) Repeat until you track down the offending component.

Best regards,
