Nifty software WIZMO:

http://www.grc.com/wizmo/wizmo.htm

allows me to open my DVD tray via shortcut, among other things.

Problem is I must always allow program permission as a UAC advise comes up
asking me for permission to open this program.

Please advise how I can set permission to be a permanent permission,
eliminating this advise.

Am operating in a "user" (me being the owner) that has administrator
permissions.

How can I install this software as administrator to allow full operation by
all users without requiring administrator permission?

Thanks in advance.

Robert

You can't--this is not an administrator vs. user issue, it is a supply
administrator credentials issue

All you can do is turn of UAC control, which will prevent messages, but open
up the PC to some of the same problems that plagued XP (programs installing
without warning)

Wizmo was not designed for use on Vista--maybe Gibson will write another
version someday

Many thanks as I determined same.

Turned off UAC temporarily as I am the sole user anyway.

Neat thing, WIZMO is.

BUT:
Is there a shortcut I can create that will cause the tray to open via Vista
without using WIZMO.

Tried a few but could not get it right.

I like that ability to open the tray via a desktop click, what with my
system being an HP s3123w, slimline desktop.

Regards,
Robert

You could write an ugly little script, but here's a better option

You can install a gadget to the sidebar that will eject cd-dvds. If you
don't use your sidebar, you can load it, install the gadget, and then drag
the gadget off the sidebar and onto your desktop--much more attractive than
a generic icon

There are at least three gadgets that will do this in the online gadget
gallery

Thank you.

I tried that gadget trick, ( I choose not to use the SideBar) but UAC must
still be turned off if I wish to use WIZMO.

However, I discovered that by going to the drive itself Computer> drive, and
double clicking onto it, well, the drive door opens.

Vista does that, so the WIZMO gadget which does same, neat as it is,
requires me to turn off the possibly needed UAC, which I am reluctant to do
at this time.

Still looking to create a desktop 'one step' shortcut to open the drive door
though and will search Internet.

Thanks for everything,
R
