I posted this in the discussion group" but didn't get any replies and
since I've seen that some of you don't have access to that group, I'll
try here.
Is anyone familar with this freeware text editor? If so, do you
remember the zip file password? The author's site no longer exist so
he/she cannot be contacted anymore.
From what I was able to research, the author was Italian, and the site
went by the name of "Witmouse". The zip file(s) were password coded so
that the author could keep track of programs usage.
More on this program:
"Wittypad (all in english) is similar to the Windows Notepad but with
some more options. As always it doesn't need installation. Freeware.
-The current file can be saved while editing it.
-You can set the auto-copy from clipboard in the current file and at the
same time its autosave (I found this helpful when reading e-mail
messages or news group
articles and I want to collect pieces of text containing URL to use
later when on-line). You can use third party applications to convert
text into an html file with clickable url. If you set the autocopy from
clipboard, you'll see an animated icon next to the window-clock, which
speed you can modify from 1 to 60 seconds. This will give you a "visual
reference" about what's going on in the "background". The
animated icon stops when you exceed the limit of 65,000 characters.
-The number of characters inserted appears in a little blue window.
-The number of lines have a dedicated window.
-Most part of settings are available from a right click of the mouse on
the text area.
-If you click on the red "mouse" button [see image] you can insert 12
descriptions and a title of 12 personal emoticons-notes that you find
most used in the news groups you normally frequent. Some frequently used
emoticons are already set and usable from the right-click menu.
-The hour-date button in the main window allows you to set predefined
format.
-Help file inside the program.
-And more............"
I've tried WWW.PWFinder.com and they were unsuccessful in their attempt
to "crack" the code
Just hoping that someone has a copy of it and can render some
assistance, or if not, can anyone recommend an alternative that has all
of the listed features? TIA.
