First...some stand alone DVD players will not play
home made DVDs.

Just wondering...do you have the full retail version
of Nero and did you use NeroVision to create a
Video DVD or did you create a Data DVD?

Thanks John,
I have the trial version of Nero.

I have only used windows movie maker to capture the footage and it only lets
me save it as .avi or .wmv file. When I then use Nero to burn it to a DVD I
select DVD Video and it only looks for .vob .ifo or something else.

You need NeroVision...it's not included
in the OEM version of Nero. If you
downloaded the full trial from the Nero
website...youi should have it.

Download Nero Trial Version

Ok...you saved as DV-AVI...that's good.

NeroVision will import the .avi files.

Thanks very much John I'll give it ago. I've printed off some tutorial stuff
off the Nero website which I think shows where I've gone wrong.

Always read the instructions hey!

Hello again John,

Still seem to be having problems. From what I read on the Nero tutorial I
needed to export my windows movie maker footage so that I could save it as a
dvd video file. It doesnt give me that option. States I need a mpeg 2 upgrade
which I have to buy. Does this make sense to you? Any thoughts

cheers

Ok, this is what I'm doing.

Open Nero Startsmart
click on burn dvd video files, only looks for .vob.bup or .ifo
obvioulsy finds nothing

or I click on photo and video open with Nero vision essentials SE
click on make a cd then select other video formats
message appears stating MPEG 2 video encoding plug in required buy now?

does this help?

I'm no expert on all the various issues that
can occur with Nero but you apparently have
the OEM version and I doubt that it will work
for the task you are trying to perform.

Maybe it would be worth a try to revert to
my previous suggestion of downloading
and installing the Nero Trial version. Once
you have it installed...try using NeroVision 4.
It should import your .avi file successfully.
No guarantees and good luck.

Download Nero Trial Version

Or...purchase your choice of DVD Authoring
software and try it. There are some reviews at
the following site:

Video Editing Software Review

Sorry...but that's all I can offer.

Ok John I'll give it a go. I'll keep
you posted. By the way what does
OEM mean?
=======================
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer.

In other words...it was an app that was
included in the software package that
came installed on your system when it
was new. This type of software is rarely
a full version...does not include support
from the creator of the software and
many/most times are out-dated older
versions of the product.
