This is a repeat (updated) of an older post regarding a problem which
is still unsolved.
\I recently acquired a DSL connection (ATT/Yahoo). It was connected
to
my wife's computer (a Dell laptop running Windows XP). In order to
be
able to access the DSL on my own computer (a HP desktop also running
Windows XP) I obtained a couple of 2Wire home phone network adapters,
hooked them up, installed the drivers and ran Windows Network Wizard
on both computers.
There are two problems:
1) With both 2Wire connections enabled DSL cannot be accessed on my
wife's (host) computer (and obviously not on my computer either).
However, if you disable the 2Wire connection on the host computer,
DSL
is restored but home network functionality is lost.
2) When the home network connections are enabled and shown as
"connected" and you
open "see workgroup computers" then the computer you're on is
displayed but not the other computer, plus when you open "network
places" you see shared folder for both computers but when you try to
open the shared folder of the other computer you get an error message
(something like access denied maybe you don't have permission?)
is still unsolved.
