I'm sure they plan to use the company and Claira for
their own gain, why would they buy it out if they weren't
going to use it for their own gain? Does Microsoft
actually think people are going to take their spyware
program serious even if it is free if they do buy this
spyware company? And their antivirus company and all
that? No, forget about it.

Actually They already bought the company months ago. And
yes they are going to use it for their own gain. Dont
you think an operating system free of spyware would be a
good thing not only for the end user but also for the
company. I have a feeling your not a business major.
And FYI, I support 781 end users and 564 computers over a
900 mile WAN. This software is quite honestly the best I
have ever used. The government agencies I support have
also found the software to be the best available. "Do
they think people will actually take their program
seriously"? Uh.....Yes I do.

Hi

MSAS is really good but if MS buys Claria/Gator
we will end up in a strange situation. Claria/Gator
will always be a transponder and I now understand
why MSAS do not touch abetterinternet.

It will be exactly the same situation with a probably
more sophisticated EULA from MS/Claria and also
some extra special "For Frees" from MS .

Withins months we have been seeing users removing
Kazaa and also loose all loved music files from "My Shared folder"
and Claria/Gator comes bundled with Kazaa.

So this is really sad. :'(

After reading "How are things going to change" & "wishful
thinking" it appears some people have a bone to pick with
Microsoft. My advice, keep on picking & when you get
tired, I'm sure Apple will welcome you with open arms. &
that is one man's opinion---30--

One wonders to what extent the technology acquisition
captured in the Claria/Gator deal helped in the
development of the superb June 24th release. Congress and
the Courts can and will grind out a finely crafted set of
Laws and Rights surrounding information gathering within
the United States. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's
retirement signals the opening volley of what will
escalate into a furious battle over this and other
closely linked fundamentally important technology issues.
Of course each Nation and the United Nations and various
Non-Governmental Organizations (like WTO, IBM Oracle,
Sun, HP, Microsoft, IEEE, The University of Edinburgh,
the Pope, etc.) will have input and a profound collective
impact on what eventually evolves. Not to mention various
military requirements (you brought it up).

Our task presently is to Beta test the stuff. Our firm's
spyware woes have gone away with the June 24th release,
and measurable web access has improved approx 70%. :)

Yes, but they are buying a company out that does what?
Make spyware and yes I have used their antispyware
product and to tell you the truth, there are better.
What do they plan to do buy all spyware companies out?

And no you're right I am not a business major and no I do
not run many computers like you do, but what difference
does it make? When people see Microsoft's buying Claira
people won't care about that Microsoft has that
antispyware program. Will they even trust Microsoft
anymore?

There is no such thing as a antispyware program that
detects all spyware, so you're looking at using a couple
spyware programs if you want the best results.

I have used better, but I think Microsoft Antispyware is
the best free antispyware I have ever used, but it still
doesn't detect them all. None of them do. I guess your
antispyware is a little different than the one I use
(that may have a little something to do with the spyware
detection). I have used Microsoft Antispyware (Home
User), but it still doesn't detect everything. None of
them do, even the ones you pay for, but what does the
antispyware have to do with them buying out Claira? If
any antispyware company bought out a spyware company,
people would feel the same way.
