Hi all,

I have a question about the bundled wiring which protrudes from the
inside front panel of my case. Could anybody tell me what the
following symbols on each wire indicate:

1 firewire port has a bundle of 6 wires labeled: TPA+, TPA-, TPB+,
TPB-, VP, VG

USB port #1 has a bundle of 4 wires labeled: 1+D, 1-D, 1+5V, 1GROUND

USB port #2 has a bundle of 4 wires labeled: 2+D, 2-D, 2+5V, 2GROUND

My motherboard manual is not quite as detailed as I'd like, so I hope
to glean as much information as possible before attempting to connect
these wires and power-up.

TIA,

~Bill

TPx indicate whis polarity on which data pair (there are two pair with
firewire), VP is +5V, VG is ground.
USB port #1 has a bundle of 4 wires labeled: 1+D, 1-D, 1+5V, 1GROUND

USB port #2 has a bundle of 4 wires labeled: 2+D, 2-D, 2+5V, 2GROUND

Straightforward: D is data + and -), +5 and Ground are self
explanatory.

Here's the deal on usb wires: I just lifted the graphic from a post a little
newer than yours (thanks to Rick):

Vcc -D +D G Key Pin
* * * * * USB 1
* * * * X USB 2
Vcc -D +D G No Pin

Vcc and G are the power pins for running the port. Vcc is the positive
terminal and G is the ground.
-D and +D are the data pins. The key pin isn't used for power or for
carring data, it's just there to orient one piece plugs. The Vcc wire is
red, G is Black, -D is White, and +D is Green.
