anyone have any idea on how to boost power on the
wireless--I've switched to a 5.8ghz phone.Granted I do
live in a home that has it share of walls...but is there
anything anyone knows that can boost.

I connected a directional antenna to my Linksys WAP. Helped a bit.
Wireless signals are very weak.

I also bought a second Linksys WAP to broadcast to the back garden.

Radio Shack has inexpensive ($30) antenna replacement units for Linksys
routers which will boost the signal.
 
One note of caution - the repeaters are sometimes device specific - I
have a Netgear repeater that won't work with a Linksys WAP or the
Microsoft MN500 router - it does work fine with a Netgear
900AP+,though...
