Hi, I'm wanting to network 2 computers at home with 2 PCI wireless network
cards, and I was wondering if someone could let me know whether this was
viable with the 2 PC's I have. One is an XP2600 running WindowsXP, and the
other an AMD K6 2 300 running Windows 98SE. Anybody know if these machines
can be wireless networked?

do you have a wireless router or an Access Point (AP)? if so, then it
is possible. you can configure your wireless router or AP to be a DHCP
server and then configure each computer to obtain ip address
dynamically.

for each of the computers, you need to do:

Start > Settings > Network Connections > right click your wirelss nic
connection > select properties > under general tab, select Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) then click Properties > select the radio button named
Obtain an ip address automatically.

to configure the wireless router or AP, follow the instructions that
came with it.

Yes you can network them with just PCI wireless cards. Set them up in
ad-hoc mode.

might be helpful for the XP one. With W98 you will be dependent on the set
up that comes with the card.
