For several years I have had no problems with my Wireless mouse and
keyboard, with the receiver attached to a powered 7-port USB Hub.
However, recently I recently had to reinstall my PC, still with my
mouse and keyboard well functioning in the same setup.
However, to trace down a mysterious "USB Device" that appears under
"Other Devices" in Device Manager, for which WinXP Pro is unable to
install the drivers, I decided to try to disconnect USB device by
device to figure what this mysterious "USB Device" actually is.
When I disconnected the USB Hub, and attached the Wireless Receiver
directly to the motherboard's USB ports, they stop functioning! I have
tried to reconnect the mouse and keyboard to the receiver, having no
luck. (When booting Win XP that is, the keyboard works fine before
entering WinXP, I can for instance break into BIOS and navigate there
using the keyboard)
(When I return to the original setup (through the USB hub) everything
works fine).
Any theories what is going on here??!??
