Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite P20. Fitted the wireless
network card and in networking connections the wireless
card properties does not show a networking tab. Only the
general and advanced tabs appear. I am replacing a D-link
PCCard and it worked fine (still does). Does anyone
please have any idea how I can turn back on the built in
XP Wireless component. I have tried de-installing the d-
link software and device no difference.

Regards

Hi,

You'll need to go to your Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->
Services

Then when the Services window appears, scroll down to Service "Wireless Zero
Configuration"
Double click on this, and then change the startup type to Automatic, and
then click on the Start button to start the service.
Then hit OK and then close the Services window.

Now if you go to your network properties of your wireless network card
you'll have your Wireless tab, back.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately under services I
have no "Wireless Zero configuration" service.

Also FYI I have searched the posts and found a similiar
problem where someone advised adding a dword entry of
start to
H_key_local_machine_system_currentcontrolset_services_WZCS
CV with a value of 2. I have done that, still no wireless
tab. Also from the same reply string on the community
newsgroups I have run services.msc from the start/run
command line. No joy.

Any other ideas anyone please.

Regards

Martin

Thanks heaps everyone. Changed the dword value of 2 (see
replies for details) from hex to decimal and now the
wireless tab appears.

Very happy chappy !! :-))

I have this same problem, and haven't tried the regedit
solution, but I found other advice to run, at a command
line,
svchost.exe -k netsvcs
I think I will try both the regedit and svchost solution,
then reboot, to see if both will solve this problem.
I also tried using a Linksys config utility for W2K, and
it looks good, but still doesn't work.
