wireless router

I have a buffalo 54Mbps one and it is outstanding, it's never needed a reset and has been online for over 6 months! It has 4 wired ethernet ports, a built in hub and wireless that supports b/g standards. very good, and was only £49.99 from the dreaded PC World.

Previously had a Belkin router and it was AWFUL :( Had to reset about 3 times a day and wireless was patchy

Just my 2 pence worth :)

they have changed the firmware to a vesion that makes the router usless exept for one pc

and have made it impossible for to change the firmware back

can anyone say wich is the better of the two (links above)

Who gave you this information?

If they were to do that why sell it with 4 ports?

It totally defeats the object dont your think?

i went on the net to find out why i could not get my psp to work with it and i typed in my router and there was a forum where it explained ehat they have done

there is 4 ports because you can wire in pc's ect put it can only be used wirelessly with a usb adapter and it wont work with anything else thats wireless

so thats why i need a new router

Hmm Pathetic!

So defeats the object of having a wireless router to allow for wireless networks.

I hope you have written to netgear about this and got all the facts?

Who are you saying blocked it - Telewest Blueyonder or Netgear?

Did Telewest supply this router?

Standard Netgear Routers do not stop you from using multiple wireless connections.

Also I would steer clear of USB Wireless adapters - use a proper Wireless Network Card, they are generally more reliable and give a stronger signal..
