is i'm on dial up and want to use ics but it won't seem to
allow it. i have no need or desire for cable or dsl.just
want dial to work from all machines instead of having to
run phone lines everywhere. any ideas. i've been through
all of microsofts k.b. and still no help.

Hi Haywuud,
Disable DHCP on router if you haven't already done so. Your ICS server will
perform DHCP services in its place.
What's the LAN IP address of the router? Your ICS server PC will have the
address 192.168.0.1 by default. Your router needs a new address on the same
subnet but out of the address range allocated by the Server to your other
pcs - set it to 192.168.0.100 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (write the info
on a label and stick it on the router)
hope this works.

the router doesn't appear to have an option for disabling
dhcp. i can set it static but.... right now if my main
desktop is already dialed up the others will connect to
internet through it but they themselves won't force it to
dial up.repeated attempts with network setup and ics
haven't done much so i am guessing that my registry has an
entry in it that is preventing this. no clue where to look
for it.

Also make sure your desktop and other machines that you want to share have
the same protocols installed such as NWLink protocol, it fixed mine.
