Wireless problems

There have been many wireless problems posted, many are unique. Here is my
experience to add to the pile.

I have a compaq notebook that I dual boot from XP to Vista 5536. In XP,
wireless networking works fine at work and home. Home is WEP, work is open
(I know, don't worry, it's DMZ'd)

When I boot into Vista, I can easily do all networking at home, entered wep
just fine and no problems.

When I come to work, I can't connect with Vista 5536. Previous builds
worked just fine, this will not. The router sucessfully assignes an IP
address via DHCP and gives it subnet + DNS info.

I can go into command prompt and do nslookup for yahoo. If I enter yahoo's
IP address directly into IE, it will load yahoo.com, however most images
don't load and none of the links will work.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I'd love to provide
feedback via the tool, but without a conection.... well you know :)

Have tried all manner of unchecking security boxes, disabling firewall,
enabling/disabling sharing.
 
I have a similar problem. I put the computer to sleep at home and then take
it to work and the wireless freezes up . The wireless icon has a "!" next to
it and I can't access the network settings. THe same thing happens when I go
from work to home. The wireless card is a broadcom on a presario 6050US
notebook. The only thing that works is a reboot.
 
BTW I have build 5600 RC1 installed.

Well, I just made it to work with RC1 and problem persists. When I filled
out the MBC form, they said this would be fixed in next release. Well, RC1
is the next release and I still can't connect to the internet, although my
laptop has made the connection to the access point.
 
I tried using the XP drivers from Broadcom rather than the ones windows
installed and that fixed teh problem. At least once todat when I came back
from work, the computer woke up and connected. I would suggest to upgrade the
drivers.

Well I tried posting twice and no luck. It seems to just sit there and not
post. That might be a bug in itself. Anyways, I updated the drivers to
broadcom (for xp) rather than the windows generic ones and the problem went
away. Try installing the manufacture's drivers rather than microsoft.
 
I tried installing the Compaq Broadcom XP driver and that still doesn't
change things. Thanks for trying to help though. I think I'm going to
reformat and load the 64 bit RC1. I won't have sound, but at least I'll have
internet. Maybe they'll catch the sound driver up soon.
