Hi,

About 2 weeks ago I bought the Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite mouse and
keyboard. Installed OK, looks great, worked very well.

Suddenly, yesterday, both the mouse and keyboard took to freezing up
every minute or so, and operating again after about ten seconds. If I
had moved the mouse while it was frozen, after it unfreezes, the pointer
assumes the position it would have done had it been working normally
throughout.

How can I correct this please?

Rex.

If the base station is connected to USB ports, try connecting it to your
PS/2 ports instead.

Hi, and thank you for your response.

The wireless mouse is connected by means of PS2 connectors to a KVM
switch.
Today, the mouse acted up again, by hesitating before moving properly,
and sometimes halting while being moved.
Changing the frequency had no beneficial effect. I am not absolutely
certain, but I think the Keyboard also misoperates at the same time that
the mouse does.
I am now working with the PS2 connectors removed from the KVM switch,
and directly plugged into the motherboard ports.
It is working correctly - so far. But this fault only exhibits itself
randomly and intermittently, so I cannot yet say whether the fault is a
function of the KVM switch. I hope not, because the Belkin KVM switch
cost a lot of money.

I would really appreciate if some knowledgeable reader would advise a
specific cause and cure for this problem.

Rex.
