One issue with Wireless is the control applet. Some vendors provide
their own dedicated Wireless control instead of the Windows service
"Wireless Zero Configuration".
In the System Tray ( by Time display ) do you see the standard XP
wireless icon ( Little antenna with radio waves ) ? If not then your
Latitude may be using a Intel Control applet instead of XP's native
control.
Also most notebooks have a Enable switch for Wireless, so it can
be quickly disabled in areas where the PC shouldn't connect. I'd
check that the switch is enabled.

<=>Click Start >> Control panel >> Network and Internet Connections >> Double
click Network connections, then right your LAN Icon and select Properties.
On the LAN properties under General make sure the Internet Protocol TCP/IP
is selected and click Properties.
There make sure the Machine Get assigned Automatically IP address and Renter
the Encryption Key and the Network SSID (network Name say NetgearNetwork)
then click [OK].
If you are using the WCZ to Manage your Wireless then you need to Make sure
it is turned ON in the services:
Open a run command and type in:
services.msc click [OK]
Here make sure the Wireless Zero Configuration is Started Automatically, the
same if you are using Dell latitude Wireless Manager Utility to manage your
Wireless connection make sure the service is Started Auto and Disable the
Windows Wireless Zero Configuration this where the confusion comes from when
you have the Vendor and the Windows Utilities both starting, none will give
way and you cannot connect.
Click OK then close the services control panel window and Reboot and see if
the service will hold it's settings to Auto.
If not then try this Key in the Registry:
Open Run and type in:
regedit.exe click OK and on the Registry Editor Locate this key and change
the value in the Right Pane/window to (2):
