I have a problem running wireless at one of our offices,
we have about 30 laptops with 1 x 11 meg access point,
about 24 laptops will be logged in at anyone time, the
software on the laptops is winxp and this is
authenticating against a win 2000 domain.
The problem is the network is very slow and we can only
get no more than 5 - 6 laptops on at anyone time. The
machines log in a pick up a roaming profile and all there
printers, each user runs a login script and has a home
directory.
We are using Compaq built in wireless cards and these are
configured with encryption for the Wireless access point.
The machines are configured for DHCP.
The plan is to have all 24 machines running at one time,
but at the moment this seems impossible, is there any
known issues with Microsoft and wireless networking, and
has anybody got a similar configuration and has it
working, if so what are we doing wrong.

If you require any more information please contact me

Thank you in advance for any help in this matter

Regards

Peter

Check to see what channel your AP unit is running. This sounds like an
interference issue. If your AP unit is located anywhere near a microwave
oven you should stay away form channel 11. Try setting it for channel 1
(one) and see if that doesn't fix your problem.

Get another wireless access point and add it in? Does it work OK when only a
few are on? I usually provision a couple of APs when I have that many users.
