Ok, I've set up a wireless network. i've followed everything exactly. The
only problem is that when I'm using the wireless, anything I download, stops
and times out, anything I play on Youtube only loads partially and will not
go any further. When I plug the modem directly into my laptop, it does
everything normally, Finishes all downloads and all. Anyone know what could
be doing this?

WiFi is not a totally reliable medium, compared to Ethernet. I'd start by
making sure that the latest WiFi adapter drivers, and router firmware, is
loaded.

And check your WiFi neighbourhood.
