I have looked there-but it doesn't even show my roomates computer on it. She
could be in the same room as me logged onto it and it won't show up, it just
shows mine

That's a pretty vague question but if you go into your router's
configuration screen it will show the machines which are connected.
Refer to your router manual for how to do this.

if she has XP, she will need a hotfix for hers to show up in your map
