I have a laptop with XP Pro and have networked a Vista laptop through the
wireless router. The XP Pro is connecting fine to the internet but the Vista,
although it can see and is connected to the wireless network with excellent
strength, cannot connect to the internet. Help! Am going mental trying to
figure it out!

I had the same issue... I was getting mad. Even I was able to get connected
in other wireless devices except mine.

I always got an "Unidentified network - Local Access Only" message with my
WRT54G Linksys wireless router. I tested everything you can imagine, but the
final solution was... buy a new router. And now, everything works perfect.

If using static IP, can you can connect to the Internet? This search result may help too,
