Wireless Network

Hello. I didn't know where to go to ask for help so I
just came here. I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 5150
for college and with it came a wireless networking card.
Well I started using the laptop, testing it out and what
not, and I realized that I had a "very good"
connection/signal. With my desktop on DSL I connect to
the internet very well with a "very good" connection.
However if I try to connect to the internet through my
wireless network, it does not work, even though it says I
have a good connection. I dont know much about computers
but I just know I have a connection that isn't allowing
me to access the internet. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I'm running windows xp.

Not sure, but on my wireless I have to go into the router
and set it to recognize the MAC address of the pc card in
my portable. It may be that you will have to hard wire
the laptop temporaraly to the router to access the
router. you will need the address of the router to access
the controls. The MAC address is usually on the back of
the pc card, sometimes it will also mention what channel
the wireless system needs to be set to.

Is you wireless access point connected to the Internet?
You can have a connection to a wireless access point
without having Internet access. If your access point is
connected to the Internet, you may need to reset your DSL
router and the access point; sometimes things get hung up
on the router or access point.
