For some reason I can't access Wireless Network Properties without locking the computer. I can't turn on file and printer sharing because of this and it's a pain. If you have an answer feel free to email me.

What brand of wireless NIC? Have you checked with the NIC vendor to make
sure the driver is compatible with Windows 2000?

I'm using a LINKSYS router. The laptop with Windows 2000 pro uses a LINKSYS adaptor. I can connect the laptop to the internet through the router, but I can't get to Wireless Network Properties. I suspect there is a permission that is blocking me but I'm logged on as admin. So you're saying I need a different driver for the adaptor? Is this a LINKSYS problem? I have 2 other computers, one with XP, and the other 98', and they have no problems with the network. I can't even see the laptop on the network and it connects to the internet!

Well yes, because Windows 2000 doesn't have native wireless support like
Windows XP. There is no wireless zero config client in W2K. Any wireless
support on the NIC is provided by the wireless NIC driver written by the NIC
vendor.
