When you log on to a wireless network for the first time, vista identifies if
the network has internet access, and won't let you on the internet untill it
finishes. The internet indicator (little pic of earth) is usefull, but the
wait is annoying. A return to Windows xp behavior for this would be nice.

Hi,

The delay is due in part to the new tcp/ip stack configuration and "when"
the network adapter driver initializes, which is generally last on the
startup axis so that the firewall and any antivirus solutions are active and
in place prior to exposing the system to network traffic. I don't know that
there is going to be much chance for changes in this, but I do agree with
you in that there needs to be some refinement.

This sorta makes sense, although I think I can access my local router
configuration page during this waiting time........
