I am having a problem putting a laptop with XP on my wired/wireless network.
It works wired, but I cannot enter the 64 character key for the wireless
connection, it seems only to take a maximum of 32 characters. Is this true
or do I have something set wrong (Vista just comes up with no problem)??

Are you really using a 64 character key? What mode of wireless
encryption are you using (WEP-64, WEP-128, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK)?

Assuming that you are using WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK, my understanding that
the maximum length password for XP is 63 characters.

Hi
Are you sure that the Laptop Wireless Card support advanced encryption. What
is the laptop Model number?
Are you using at least WinXP SP2?
Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).

Hi, Jack
(oops, will I get into trouble for that?) Thanks for helping. I found the
solution tov my problem wasfinding out what I didn't know. I solved the
problem by instituting a "Guest" logon for my friend, but the problem was I
didn't understand the whole key concept until I looked in the "book". Try
to learn something new every day.
Thanks for the response!
Lee
