Wireless network connection

I have a Toshiba LapTop with wireless, and a Dell Desktop with USB wireless.

In the past I was not using the wireless on the laptop. I had my DSL modem
plugged into a wireless router, and a direct cable from that to the Laptop.
I was using the wireless on the Dell. The Signal strength on the Dell was
not good, and it got dropped all the time, so I moved the modem and the
router to a different location, and started using the wireless on the laptop.

Before this change I had full access to all the files and the printer that
was hooked up to the Dell Desktop. After the change I lost all that. I
cannot seem to get my connections back.

I have a feeling that it is not possible to re connect without either
additional hardware, or moving things back the way they were.

If someone can give me an idea of what went wrong, if it can be corrected,
or should I just go back to the way it was.

Thank you for any help anyone can provied.

Both units need to be on the same IP network scheme (ie:
192.168.1.xxx / 192.168.1.yyy - subnet mask 255.255.255.0) and part of
the same WORKGROUP.

You need to check the firewall setting on both the Dell and Toshiba.
Both should be set to allow "File and Printer sharing."

Also, you should check all / any anti-virus software systems. A lot
on these now are come with a module to block Internet "worm" style
viruses and these module behave like firewalls also.
