Wireless network changes to limited connectivity randomly

I'm having this problem with wireless netwoking on my laptop. All was working
fine when I reformated Vista and reinstalled the correct drivers from the
Acer website for my laptop. (Which is suspect is where the problem might lie)
After a random period of time the connection changes to limited connectivity
and completely freezes. I cannot open network connections or view the status
at all, however everything else appears to work fine. I have to restart it at
this stage but instead of taking the usual 5 seconds to power down it takes
about 3 minutes after the connection issue. I've noticed this occurs most
when I, for example, am downloading a large file and I leave the laptop
unoccupied for more than 20 minutes or so.

Any help would be much appreciated.

PS I have another computer linked to the router and it works 100%.
Also...I've noticed I rarely get 'Excellent' signals from the router since
the reformat even when in the same room as the router. Cheers again.
