Please help. I just installed a Blitzz 802.11b wireless
network on the two PCs in my home. The host pc is
running WINXP and the other pc with the wireless pc
adapter is running 98SE. After several hours of trying I
still cannot share files or internet connection. I have
designated which files/directories can be shared and also
allowed for internet connection sharing.

The wireless connection is good; the 98SE machine reads
that the link and strength are at least at 90%. Why can
I not see the shared directories or connect to the
internet from the 98SE? Any help will be greatly
appreciated. Over the 2 past days I have spent at least
10 hours trying to get this to work.

If you have a router and have also enabled ICS then you need
to pick one, not both.

See: http://home.comcast.net/~bobwbsgs/homenet.txt for some
basic info.

First i think u settle problem one by one
ICS is easier to dealt with in my experience

if link and strength is 90% it means hardware problem not
very likely

Ur client is using 98; u will have to run networksetup
wizard in the major XP machine; then run the XP CDROM or
network setup diskette in 98 so the XP can talk to 98

In my earlier days of WiFi usage i have similar problem

Check on varies things
make sure in property of TCP/IP IP address is blank
ICS must be enabled on PC with ADSL connection
IEEE 802.11b must be enabled for WiFi card
Disable any firewall or do not enable the setting in XP
In XP try not to use software of WiFi card but in 98 i
doubt u can use driver of WiFi card only

IN my case
simply; get wireless Ap to connect to internet
I use Xp so i only use WiFi driver and rest all XP setting
no software of WiFi i use
let XP detect wireless signal
Ensure ICS ; IEEE 802.11b inenabled
Tell XP to connect to any unsecure network(under wireless
LAN in XP)

And that is that can use WiFi after alpse of 3 minutes

More setting on channel; WEP WAP SSID name etc will
complicate things

Make it almost plug and play nat it will work believe me
i have wasted more time than u
