Wireless laptop on networked system

The problem is that the laptop cannot access a secure
site, such as Amazon, and cannot check e-mail.
The computers all run XP-Pro, SP-1. The internet
connection is via Direcway satellite Two Way. The
satallite modem has only USB output, so two NIC cards were
installed in the host computer. The first feeds the WAN
input on a D-Link DI-604 router, and the second NIC feeds
one of the four LAN ports of the router. All addresses are
set to static mode. One port of the DI-604 router feeds a
D-Link DWL-900AP+ Wireless Access Point and talks to a D-
Link DWL-800 AP+ set as a Repeater, which talks to a D-
Link DWL-G650 Wireless Cardbus Adapter pluged into a
Toshiba 400 Mhz laptop. The RF link is encrypted at 128
bits.
Everything works great with the above noted problems
on the laptop. I have tried turning off ZoneAlarm Pro on
the host, but it makes no difference. I have tried also
turning off the LAN proxy settings on the laptop, checking
all security settings, setting them to the lowest setting,
changing the HTTP setting both on and off, and turning on
SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 on in the security tab of the
Advanced portion of Internet tools.
When attempting to connect to a secure web page, the
laptop transmits and then shows the page " This page
cannot be displayed." When trying to check or send e-
mail, the request never leaves the laptop and displays the
error " The host POP3 cannot be accessed and SMPT host
cannot be accessed." I have checked all settings in the e-
mail setup, and no problem is to be found there.
I am now out of ideas. I hope that I have supplied all
the required information that perhaps someone smarter tham
I, can point me in the correct direction. By the way, the
laptop is for my wifes use, and it would be much better
for me if her computer could work as it should.
Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Thank you Barb, that fixed the e-mail problem, but the secure web page
trouble is still with me. I did find that before I attempt to enter a
secure website, that if I turn off the proxie in the (Tools) (Internet
options) (Connections) (lan), I can enter the secure site.
The proxie, 127.0.0.1, is used by Direcway, and they claim it is
needed for the Internet Accellator Software on their server. The
proxies on the networked computers is of course, 192.168.0.1.
By the way, the resultant MTU turned out to be 1430. I checked the
Direcway diagostnics and there were no fragmented packets or dropped
packets after re-seting the MTU on the host and all NIC cards. I found
that the program Broadband Wizard has a feature that will let you
check the MTU's and re-set them either using their automatic feature,
or a manual setting. Anyway, I thought you might be interested in
that if you hadn't heard about it.
Now, if you can pull my fat from the fire on this stinking problem
of the secure, (They sure are, I can't get in! ) websites, I will be
eternally grateful. Thank you in advance for any help or ideas.
Again, FYI, I attempted to register on the expert chat room, and
got to the point where it asks for a nick, and after entering it, the
web page just returns back to the same page instead of letting me
enter the chat room. Too many bugs in this software. Blast Billy
Gates anyway.

you should be able to enter sites by exception in the proxy settings that
will bypass it. just enter these as you need them in Internet Explorer. it's
your choice whether to disable their proxy...

as for the chat room, the chat application is sometimes temperamental. it
doesn't like anything but normal fonts in the display and a few other
things.
