The only difference would be that you use the wireless NIC manufacturer's
drivers and wireless utility rather than XP's wireless zero config utility.

well i have a centrino so the NIC is built in. thing is,
im not getting any options for even scanning for a
wireless signal. when 2000 was being setup, it asked me
for the SSID of my router and i gave it. i dont know, i
dont get any options of any sort. the network connection
icon is there, but there is no signal, it doesnt even have
a window where it shows AVAILABLe signals u know.

You need to instal card as norm and drivers, it is simular
to XP, the only difference you might find is restrictive
access to the win 2000 PC from another PC i.e. you have to
supply username to access resources and drives. To do
this, you need to add all the users and passwordds int the
win 200 PC as if they could power it up and use it, then
when you enable sharing for the selected drive etc click
PERMITIONS the ADD then scroll down find the usernames you
wish to access the resources and set their permitions.

I hope this was some help.
