Wireless Issues

Hello Everyone.
This is something which has been puzzling me for a while and I was hoping one of you experienced developers could help me out
I am having a Cisco 350 Wireless Lan card in one of our thin clients with Wireless Zeo Config component in the TD. I am pretty sure I have more than 1 Wireless networks in the vicinity. But this device doesnot show me any under "Available Wireless Networks", but when I configure the SSID and other parameter, connects sucessfully to the configured network. It occassionally says "There are more than one Wireless networks available click here ..", but when I open the window it shows nothing
Has anyone seen this before??Am I missing something
Please let me know..any tip/pointer will be appriciated.
thank
Si

Hello Sid,

I also have noticed similar behavior.
Wireless networks are capable of hiding their ESSID in Broadcast packages.
Check out your Access-Point settings for "Hide SSID in beacons" or similar
settings.
The firmware of wireless Lan card is checking for all channels, if there is
any traffic, so
it finds wireless networks with hidden ESSID, but can't display their names.

You have to specify exact name and WEP key (eg WAP) or whatever security
mechanism is set.
Add this settings to your preferred network.

Best regards

Sid,

I haven't worked with wireless network on XPe but you can take a look at the Cisco component on www.xpefiles.com and see if it has
the settings you are looking for: http://www.xpefiles.com/a_file.cfm?custid=Components&fileid=Cisco.zip&groupName=Other

Sorry, can't be of much help here.
