Wireless/DVD Conflict

When I plug my DVD RW into the USB 2.0 port, I can no longer access
the network through my wireless and I get a BSOD with the "driver irq
less or equal" error at least hourly. If I disable the wireless card
via Device Driver, the DVD works fine and no BSOD (but of course, no
network either). Help!

This is on an IBM Thinkpad A30p, running XP Pro SP1 with all updates
(well, I can't run Windows Update when the DVD is connected 'cause no
Internet). I updated the Thinkpad's bios (after talking to IBM
support).

I removed Roxio software (presumably an occasional cause of BSODs). I
disabled DLA. The USB 2.0 port is a PCMCIA card (I tried both CompUSA
and Adaptec cards after talking to LaCie support). I tried both a
Backpack and a LaCie DVD. Both drives appear in Device Manager as
"_NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A USB Device" (probably the same drive). I ran
the LaCie Update Tool from the web. I tried using the drivers that
came with the Backpack drive. Per Microsoft's KB22603, I downloaded
and reinstalled the USB 2.0 drivers. (I did all these changes one at
a time, testing between...)

The wireless card came pre-installed on the Thinkpad. It is named
"High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card" in Device Manager. The
wireless card and USB 2.0 card are both on IRQ 11, but so is the
video, audio card, firewire, other USB, modem, etc (i.e., as I
understand it, this is how XP does IRQs). None of the devices have
the warning or error icon (which signify a conflict).

I am truly stumped! Ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

I solved this problem. I had to get a newer driver for the "IBM High
Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card." I located the driver on IBM's
website. Seems strange that choosing Update Driver from the Device
Manager, and Windows Update, didn't update the driver. I have 17
drivers on IRQ 11; It really seems crazy that I have to manually
track down updated drivers....
