my dv6000 notebook running on vista os does not connect to the linksys
router.it detects the signal but then it looses the ip after some time.i have
checked disabling the ipv6 but does not help.any ideas?

reni,

Is this a problem that commenced immediately after you installed the
wireless system? Or did it start sometime after it was operating properly?
These are important to understand to be able to have some idea of where to
start.

Also, If you have any security enabled on the modem/router (whatever type
setup you have), then the wireless card must be configured to match those
settings. We don't know what your setup is or how it's configured. This
fact makes it difficult to respond with any kind of useful information.

Is the Linksys router set to automatically renew the IP address? Read the
router manual or call Linksys for support.

Eh what? My 64 bit machines connect just fine without any fussing with
flags. Thanks but no thanks. Or perhaps they do it differently in Mexico.
In the US, we don't need to change ANYTHING.

As I say, my XP and Vista and 2003 PCs all run fine - whether they run 32
bit or 64 bit software. 41 people out of 11 million is a rather small and
insignificant issue really. It may be you are trying to run with hardware
incompatible with Vista.

Where did I even mention Australia? Oh, do you mean the word 'us' as in us
here in the UNITED STATES. I believe you might have looking for the word
OZ, slang for Australia, but I made no mention of it anywhere in my posting.
I'm well travelled and have been to both Mexico and Australia, they have
very little in common.
