I just bought a Linksys WUSB11 wireless USB adapter. I
have installed it correctly (ssid, wep disabled, channel
on auto, infrastructure mode on both). The WLAN monitor
can detect the signal on the ssid, but the USB adapter is
not able to associate with the access point.

When I go to the DOS console and typed ipconfig, no ip
address was shown, even when I give the adapter a fixed ip
address of 192.168.1.20. When I ping 127.0.0.1, it worked,
but not on 192.168.1.20.

I also have another wireless adapter, a PC Card type that
works find on the same computer, my notebook.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Since you have the ssid broadcast disabled, you might want to make sure that
the ssid is input properly on your USB adapter, ie if you have changed it
from default. Since you already have wep disabled, that's not an issue. The
only other thing I can think about is if you have configured firewall MAC
rules in your wireless router allowing only certain MAC addresses to connect
to the router. You might want to log into the router and check it's DHCP
table.
