Good afternoon
Does anyone know why XP tells me there are several
wireless networks available while there is only one which
it detects but cannot connect to ?

In the balloon it says it is wireless network connection 5
But there is only 1 card installed.
It has worked fine before and nothing has changed.

I am using XP prof whith an accespoint an nic WL-11 from
Sitecom.

thanks,
H

It's not telling you that there are several wireless networks
available.

Your computer has a wireless network adapter. XP has created a
network connection for it and has named the connection "Wireless
Network Connection 5". You can change the connection's name to
anything you want: open the Network Connections folder, right click
the connection, and click Rename.

Before removing the wireless network card from the computer, click the
"Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray and tell it that
you're removing the card. That might prevent the connection's name
from including an ever-increasing number.
