Hi

I have just moved into a room in a shared house which has been using a
wireless internet connection (shared between 3 people)> After initial
connection problems (it still very low) as i'm 2 storeys above the
router, i managed to get connected to the net, however i am finding
certain programs are having trouble accessing the net ie bitorrent
clients etc. i'm certain its a port issue and i get NAT errors (????)
when testing ports with my bitorrent client. I have been told it may be
the router settings but just to be sure tehres nothing else i'd like to
see if anyone here can help. I'm clueless with wireless after using a
BB connection for so long so any simplified help would be great (or
anyone with msn and a spare hour lol)

thanks in advance

If your connection quality is low, then you're going to get subpar
bandwidth and more frequent timeouts. For something that requires
high bandwidth, you're going to find the client program gives up
fairly often.

It could be "a port issue", I suppose -- I am far from expert with
wireless. But I believe that it's much more likely a simple problem
of trying to push too much data through a pipe that's narrow and
slightly leaky.

Reorienting the router's antenna may help -- cooperate with your
housemates on this, with everyone making tests at the same time.
Also, if possible move any blockers from between the router and your
computer -- collections of CDs, for instance. I did a google search
for
"wireless router" positioning
(quotes as shown) and found a number of pages with useful
suggestions.

I had trouble w/ connectivity so I changed the channel of the router; of 11
possible channels to select, only one worked. You may have to try them all
to find the best of the bunch
