after putting in vista rc1 my laptop will not conect to the internet.vista
will not pick up the network adapter at all.The adaper for my system
is-Realtek RTL8139/810X Family Fast Ethernet NIC and also a yellow ! on-Other
devices controller.
I can connect if i put in my BELKIN usb Network adapter.

Have you contacted ACER and asked if they are providing a driver for your
notebook? You may also want to contact Realtek about a driver. IMHO these
are who should be writing a driver for your hardware.

Hi David ,I have contacted acer and the e-mail back but the up dates did not
help. Also contacted, (e-mail address removed) and not much help from Realtek at
all.I have left you a copy of Acers e-mail.

Regarding your enquiry,

All available drivers, updates and manuals for all Acer products can be
obtained from our FTP site:

ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/

You will need to navigate to the folder for your product series on this FTP
site.
(e.g. for an Aspire 1662 notebook you would need to choose the 'notebook'
folder and then the 'aspire_1660' series folder)

Here you will find the latest updates, drivers and applications available
for your device. Acer Technical Support is not able to supply any updates,
drivers or applications other than those included on the supplied CDs or
available from our site. We are unable to supply beta versions of the drivers
for your device or give an ETA for new drivers. Further we do not supply
drivers for any operating system other than the one that shipped with your
machine.

In the case of drivers; all the Acer drivers for your product will be
reinstalled by doing a system recovery from your recovery cd set, by doing a
Disk2Disk recovery if supported by your machine, or can be installed
separately from the System CD (the first cd of your recovery set).

Richard

Well it sounds like ACER has a desire to sell hardware, more than they
desire to support their users. I am sorry they are not willing to support
their products better. Perhaps when Vista is released they will provide
drivers. But their statement that they only provide drivers for the OS
shipped on your notebook does not sound good to me.
