Wireless connected but no web

I'm using the linksys WAP11, which is connected to a
working 5 port hub (the other computers on the network
have access to the web).

My laptop, which has a wirless card installed shows that
it is receiving an excellent signal. The problem is that
when I go to the web, nothing will come up. Explorer
takes some time to open, and then spins its wheels for a
5-10 seconds and gives me "page cannot be displayed."
This laptop was connected to a protected network at one
time, but now I just want access to a wide open wireless
network. Any suggestions on a few settings I can
change/turn off for this?

In the activity section of the Wireless network
connection status I see the I am receiving about 270
packets, (but I am not receiving anything).

Check DNS settings of your NIC. This is most likley
culprit. Also check to make sure there is no proxy
server defined in internet options/connections

To confirm if it's a DNS issue or not, try to access (or ping) websites by
IP.
Try 216.239.41.99 which is the IP address for www.google.com.
If you can access or ping websites by IP and not by name, then your issue
is DNS name resolution.
Check the DNS server settings at a command prompt by doing "ipconfig /all".
Make sure that the Linksys WAP is configured to give out a DNS server IP
address to the clients.

I have the same issue: my laptop, w/a wireless
connection, is logged on the network but unable to get out
to the internet.
I don't understand your response "Check DNS settings of
your NIC." Exactly what am I checking? I know I don't
have a proxy.

Specifics: Router/Access Point (Linksys BEFW11S4) where
the DNS IP addresses are there and have not changed since
the last time.
Laptop running XP Pro w/wireless 'G'

Thank you in advance for your time
