Hi,

I have two XP machines, one wired to our router which connects to broadband,
and another (a laptop) which wirelessly connects to the router. I set up
the laptop to use the internet connection easily enough, but cannot seem to
get the two PCs to be able to access each other. How do I go about doing
this?

Regards,

Richard

Make sure they are on the same workgroup and then share a folder on one
of the systems. Alot of times if there isnt anything shared out the
system wont show up when you search for it. Another thing to try is
accessing the system by its IP instead of the system name. IE
\\192.168.0.2 instead of \\Laptop If all else fails, turn on the guest
account and see if it connects then.

Thanks for this. I can get the two PC's to 'see' that the other exists on
the network, but when I click on one to access it, after a few seconds it
comes up with a message saying that the comuter is not acccessible, and I
might not have permission to use the network resource. How do I fix this
problem?

Make sure that you have a folder shared out for network users.

If not, there is nothing to "see" so it wont let you connect

Hi,
I am having the same problem.
How do you "share out" a folder for network users?
Does this mean I have to go through each and every folder on both computers
and do something so they
can see each other?
Sorry if I sound too stupid but I'm new to this, and
it's not very clear what's required, or how to do things.
Walking through the wizard was a snap, but it
didn't result in my computers being able to see
each other.

Thanks
mh
