I've put in a wireless network using new Linksys 54G
router and the associated PCI wireless cards. I have 4
machines; 2 brand new and 2 a little older (Pentium 3's
about 3 years old). The wireless network works well on
the 2 new machines, but when I try to install a wireless
PCI card on either of the older machines, all hell breaks
loose. The old machines either refuse to boot properly, I
end up with a nasty blue screen, or they freeze up. I
think it has something to do with an IRQ conflict, but
I'm not sure and I don't know how to resolve the
situation. Please help.

Hmmmm. Might need a BIOS update on those older computers
if there is one available. By the way if you do apply a BIOS update,
you should then run a Repair Install of XP in order to integrate the
OS with that new BIOS. And after running a Repair Install, you will
need to reinstall XP SP1 and subsequent critical updates. If you
installed XP with a CD that includes SP1 then that is great, if not,
it would be best to uninstall SP1 prior to doing a Repair Install.
