Wiped hard drive causes printer communication problems (help)

My hard drive was completely wiped in June 2007, so I had to reinstall
everything.

I then realised that I couldn’t find the driver disk to connect my printer
to my computer. So I contacted the Dell forums to see if I could buy a new
one or use the down loads on their site. I was sent a link and I down loaded
it.

The printer began to respond and printed a test page, but as soon as I
wanted to print a document a message came up saying that the printer was not
communicating. so I removed the printer and driver and then reinstalled them.

Now every time I open an application the following error message appears:

"The procedure entry point ?GetDIMSValue@CGUInkdisplay@@QAEHX2 could not be
located in the dynamic link library dlbxutil.dll"

So I tried restarting the computer but the following message appears before
I can do anything:

"Microsoft Visual C++Routine Library

Routine Error

Program:c\programfells/dellphotoAIOPrinter962/dlbxmon.exe
This application has requested the routine to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the applications software team for more information."

It takes 4 left clicks to remove.

I'm worried that my computer has gone belly up please help.

Blue Moo.

This error message indicates that the dlbxutil.dll file on your computer is
an older, or incompatible version. The function that's being called doesn't
exist in your version of the DLL, or is under a different name. Since this
appears to be a Dell application, you'll need to contact them to obtain the
correct version.

You can try a web search and see if its available for download somewhere on
the Internet, but if you do, be careful and ensure you scan it with your
antivirus software.

Did you download the latest driver/software package for said printer?
You did not mention it - but gave it away anyway:
Dell Photo All-In-One 962

All of the below assumes you have Windows XP (32bit)...

Going to Dell's "Downloads and Drivers" page:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Selecting the 962 (Photo All-in-One) printer...
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...temID=PRN_ALL_A962&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid

There's a 34MB driver:
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=40&fileid=128698

And a 2MB recommended (by Dell) firmware update:
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=40&fileid=128061

You definitely want the driver - download and install that - see if your
problems stop.

Thank you Doug Knox & Shenan Stanley

I haven't contacted dell about the .dll file but the error messages have
disappeared, thanks to the instalation of the updated firmware (thank you
Stanley)

My only remaining problem is that the printer still won't print because it
is not communicating with the computer.
I have tried the troubleshooting suggestions provided: "check the USB cable,
check it's turned on, check the firewall is not blocking it, restart the
computer".
And it still doesn't work. I may buy a new USB cable to see if that makes
any difference.

Many thanks for all your help :-)
