What happens when you un-install WinZip from your PC. I see Alexia in
there, and I read that it was not good to get it into your system. Does
WinZip take all the Zip Files it has stored along with it when you
un-install the program, or are they sort of just { set free } on your
PC. Is there a way to delete some of the things stored, {Zipped}
without unzipping them. I hope I am stating this correctly, and I hope
I'm asking this question in the right group. If not I apologize. Any
help appreciated though. TIA.

Greetings,

If you uninstall WinZip all your .zip files would be still available on your
system. And yes you can delete files in a .zip file.
Also Windows XP has it's own zip extractor.

Thanks and best of luck!

I know that XP has its own unzip program, but I already bought this
program, and installed it before I found that out. What I want to know
is < if I can delete something in WinZip, before it's unzipped out of
the WinZip program >, and if I can't, where can I find these file that
are in there, if I remove the program from my system. Are they still
zipped in my C: drive somewhere. I'm worried about the Alexia that's in
there. I don't want it getting loose in my system. Thank you for
responding.

According to the help manual you can delete files from archives. Also,
you can select files to extract from the archive rather than defaulting
to extracting all.

I read that Alexia was trouble, like a virus Trojan or something to that
effect months ago, that name just seem to relate to trouble for PCs, am
I wrong in assuming this?? It's archived in my Win Zip program, and I
want to remove it. Thank you for responding.

Thank you for that information, I guess I better read the on-line
manual, I downloaded Win Zip via the internet a yr. ago, and forgot
about the on-line manual. I don't really use it, "Win Zip". I was
surprised, and a little embarrassed, when I found some of my downloaded
programs { that I couldn't find } there, when I checked Win Zip, I had
the icon in a folder on the desktop for things I don't often access. I
will check it out, as soon as I go onto the pc. Thanks again.

The above URLs are for "Adaware" and "Spybot" which, among others will
remove unwanted stuff.
However, the only references I found, to Alexia were :

If you have an infected file, use your anti virus program to get rid of it.
Your statement "It's archived in my Win Zip program" is a tad confusing
though. Are you sure it isn't a "zipped file" held somewhere else on your
hard drive ?
