Not sure what you mean by "local connection" are you referring to the fact
that the modem must be attached to the PC, or that the phone number dialed
must be local?
Third party software or server versions of windows are needed for network
fax in most cases.
I see - I forgot more details:
I'm working with a Fritz!Card PCI ISDN Card On a AMD Athlon X2 64 machine
with Windows XP x64 Edition. To Use the fax service I need a "real" modem or
a virtual modem installed by the CAPI Driver Software. In my case I have to
use the virtual modem. This virtual Modem is properly installed in the
hardware manager (no"!") but I have no access to it. The MSFax Printer Driver
Property say that it is not connected to any COM Port or Virtual Modem but
has a "local connection". Installing the FRitz! Card Fax Printer Driver
results in an error message like "Fax Printer Driver not installed" and
"missing module..."
