I have tried and tried to use windows update to update my
computer. It keeps giving me this administrator stuff. I
am the only user on this computer and I don't have a
password on it. I created a password and all it did was
make me log on to my puter when I start it. Didn't help
me update. I have done all the the trouble shooters say
and still noting. HELP!!!

"It keeps giving me this administrator stuff" <--- This doesn't help anyone
help you troubleshoot the problem. Exact messages please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Windows creates two user accounts when you install it
that are generally invisible. One is the guest account,
which is disabled by default in XP Pro, and the other is
the Administrator account, which it gets you to pick a
password for during install. From the sounds of things,
your user account is not set up as a local admin. Try
Start > Logoff. This should give you the ability to log
in under a different account. Login as administrator and
try again. You might also try going and changing your
account to a local admin while you're at it. To do so, go
to Control Panel > User Accounts, click on your account,
select Change the Account type, and click Computer
Administrator.
